DESCRIPTION:Read this VERY CAREFULLY: \nEvery September\, we offer the opportunity for all VQB5 educators to join our ECE 101 Cohort.  A cohort is a group of educators who meet several times\, about once a month.  This cohort will meet six times beginning on Oct. 2.  The topics and dates are listed below.  All trainings will be be held IN PERSON at the FirstSpark office at 11832 Cannon Blvd.\, Suite F in Newport News on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:30.  They are fun and informative! SUMMARY:Preventing Challenging Behaviors
DESCRIPTION:If you find classroom management challenging\, you are not alone. This training is the first in a 2-part series that will help you look at and handle student behavior in a different way. \nIn part 1\, “Preventing Challenging Behaviors”\, you will discover ways to set up and manage your classroom that will help to stop behaviors before they start! \nPart 2\, “Responding to Challenging Behaviors”\, delves into how to handle behaviors once they occur. You will be shown ways to respond to minor day-to-day behaviors as well as a step-by-step plan for handling chronic\, more serious behaviors.\nWhile we offer no magic solutions\, come join us to create your own “bag of tricks” to help manage behaviors. \nNote: both trainings will be held in-person at the FirstSpark office in Newport News. \nIMPORTANT: You will automatically be registered for part 2\, “Responding to Challenging Behaviors”. DESCRIPTION:Come learn about the new VA state standards for preschool. The Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) is a research-based list of “skills and knowledge that children need to demonstrate by the end of preschool in order to be successful in kindergarten.”   It is expected that all preschool programs will implement the use of these standards.  Join us to learn about the organization and contents of this document as well as the ways in which it can make you a more effective educator. \nParticipants interested in being part of one of our Preschool curriculum-based cohorts must attend this training prior to the beginning of the first cohort meeting. \nA copy of the ELDS will be delivered or mailed to you ahead of time\, along with other training materials.  You will receive the ZOOM link via email\, prior to the training. \nTrainer: Diane Postman \n\nFocus Areas: Child Development Essentials\, Curriculum \nREMEMBER: This training  is only for centers in Williamsburg\, the Middle Peninsula\, and the Northern Neck.
