MORNING

"Marketing Your Program"
by Jerry Graham, Virginia Quality Specialist

Explore ways to develop and/or improve your marketing plan. You'll learn marketing tools to communicate with families about the benefits of your program. We'll also help you understand how to tailor your marketing practices to the audience you're trying to reach, and to develop effective communication strategies to promote your services. This training reinforces the principle that sound business practices improve the sustainability of child care businesses.

"Budgeting for Family Child Care"
Julie Green, Child Care Aware of Virginia

Hone your administrative skills and learn strategies to encourage growth of your family child care home. This business operations training will teach budgeting for building and planning for the future, emphasizing sound business practices to help you realize a profit while caring for and nurturing children.

AFTERNOON

"You Matter! Taking Care of Ourselves"

by Jerry Graham, Virginia Quality Specialist

Family child care providers are in a unique situation: you work where you live. This leads to facing the day-to-day challenges of your business with little or no escape from the stresses of your personal life—which can negatively impact your health, the quality of interactions provided to children, and your business.  We'll examine the importance of becoming your biggest advocate as it pertains to your physical and emotional well-being.  We will explore strategies and techniques to re-energize your inner self and bring you back to a place where YOU come first!

"Families Are Welcome Here"

by Crystal Howser, Infant-Toddler Support Network

In this professional development opportunity, you will gain understanding in the importance of engaging families in early education settings. You will also learn strategies to overcome challenges that impact healthy family engagement
